Imagine you would be Aladdin. You find this magic lamp and the Genie asks you:
“What is it, oh Master, you desire the most? Speak and I will make your wish come true?”
What would you ask the Genie? What is it you desire the most?
Funny, most people would say things like ‘money’, ‘true love’, or ‘good health’ 0 or something in that order.
It’s almost like those are nonachievable things…
You know the thing is, that we often feel we aren’t entitled to certain things. But why shouldn’t you be rich? Why shouldn’t you have true love? Why shouldn’t you have a good health? They are all things you can create if you really desire them.
So why don’t we?
I think because we lack the confidence and focus too much on our past results.
But when Roger Federer won his first Grand Slam, he never won one before. I know, of course. But what if he thought he couldn’t win a Grand Slam because he had never won one before? Do you think he would really go for it or did everything in his power to get it?
No.
He had a burning desire. So he did put in the work. And believed he can.
And that goes for everyone that has achieved what he desired. No matter what it is.
So, what is it you truly desire? And what are you going to do to make that happen?
Are you going to settle for less? Or are you going all in?
How much will you sacrifice to get the result?
I believe it’s not about that desire alone you see. It’s also about the balance between having the result and the path it takes to get the result. If you enjoy that path, that’s even as important as the result. It should be in balance. Your balance.
No result but a happy path isn’t going to do it for you in the end too.
And still, I see it all around me every day. People in jobs they don’t like ‘because it pays the bills’. People in relationships they don’t want to be in ‘because they don’t want to be alone’. People in bad health ‘because I just can’t lose weight’.
Find the balance between what you want and how you want it. And when you do find that balance, you will be successful right from the moment you decide this.
